Asset Overview

Founded in 2017, the Refugio Tinti is a conservation site in the south of Costa Rica that restored a degraded rice paddy- and pasture-land to a biodiverse wildlife sanctuary. Within only three years, the soil has almost fully recovered and countless species have returned to the habitats created. The Refugio is an active member of the biological corridor 'AmistOsa', an ambitious government reforestation project which aims to connect the national parks on Osa Peninsula and L'Amistad. To contribute to its reforestation our tree nursery produces up to 10,000 seedlings annually. To advance the biological corridor further, we have developed concepts that are intended to convert destructive palmoil monocultures and cattle pastures into profitable and biodiverse polycultures (food forests) as buffer zones for the corridor.
