Reserva FCAT

Our project is addressing biodiversity loss through both engaging with local communities, reserve development, and active reforestation. FCAT differs from many conservation programs in that our organization is driven by locally born and raised residents who feel intense pride and ownership of our program: we are motivated by the legacy we will leave for our children and grandchildren. We have provided grassroots community engagement and education in our project area for nearly 20 years. We transform lives and livelihoods by providing locals with training and employment as researchers, educators and conservationists. FCAT’s long-term vision is to create a regional biodiversity corridor by creating a ~1,750-ha corridor of continuous forest to link the current FCAT reserve with another large patch of forest (the 3,000-ha Bilsa Biological Reserve) and an internationally identified priority wetland, the Laguna de Cube.
