**Tricuspid Atresia**
The patient is a good example of what some call the “hypoplastic right heart syndrome.” There was a small right fish-mouth A-V valve (1.8cm in diameter), minute right ventricular chamber and pulmonary atresia with an intact ventricular septum. All pulmonary flow was via the foramen ovale (1.5cm in diameter) and a large patent ductus. The expected enlarged right atrium and marked hepatic and splenic congestion were present. The lungs were intact, and below normal weight, a finding in isolated right-sided cardiac lesion, possibly indicative of some degree of pulmonary hypoplasia. Patch over right ventricular outflow tract. Left atrium and ventricle usual appearance.
