Asset Overview

Yewthwaite Lead Mine sits on the flank of Catbells mountain, Newlands Valley, in the Lake District National Park (NY240194). The first recorded workings took place in 1577 and the mine has been abandoned since 1923. Annotations and details about the mine are adapted from Eastwood, (1921), Adams (1988), Tyler (2005), and Cameron and Withey (2017).
