Homarus americana St253 01 Carapace showing a False(+) Epizootic Shell Disease (ESD) caught in a bottom trawl from Spring 2019 NOAA NE Groundfish Survey in the Gulf of Maine. Diagnosed at sea with ESD level 1 but examined on land and found to have a non-ESD encrustation as well as a trawl induced puncture injury, neither of which count as ESD.
