Brynjudalur - Ýringur

A very famous and classic ice climb close to Reykjavík. The route is on the south side of Brynjudalur valley and facee north. The first ice is very close to the car. Ýringur is a series of short pitches that gets you warmed up for the main pitch at the top. The main pitch is about 25m WI 5, dead vertical and sometimes slightly overhanging. Very rarely there forms an alternative pitch on the left of the main pitch that is even harder. After the main pitch is done most climbers consider the route to be done. There is how ever an extension further up the river that is climbed much more rarely than the others. Some climbers consider this to be a separate route but it's still missing an official name.
