Notes:
Hibiscus is a genus of small shrubs that includes over 300species. They are native of the temperate areas of Asia, but today they are diffused all over the world, thanks to their rustic character and ability to grow even in difficult conditions and to survive draught. In native habitats, Hibiscus often grow in large colonies along the river sides, in thickets, or near swamps. During the cold season they lose all their aerial parts, which grow again in the following Springtime. All parts of the Hibiscus are useful for medication purposes, especially for curing the liver. From the dried flowers a hot drink is made, the Karkade. Hibiscus is the national flower of Korea.
