Asset Overview
Soviet submarines Oscar I and Oscar II according to the NATO code, whose official name is Project 949 Granit (Oscar I) and Project 949A Antey (Oscar II) respectively, are cruise missile submarines, which were built according to the project of the designer Igor Spassky .
They are the largest attack submarines in the world, after the Akula class and the Borei class, currently under construction, with a slightly larger displacement than the US Ohio class.
The most serious loss of this class of submarine is the K-141 Kursk, which sank in 2000 in a tragic accident during military training maneuvers carried out by Russia after the breakup of the Soviet Union.
