Asset Overview

A broadsword greatly inspired by this: http://myarmoury.com/review_madp_ribbon.html It's not based on historical pieces, but it can be safely said that is lies in the historic realm of basket-hilt broadswords. Such swords are famous weapons used by the Scots with its superb hand protection, though some may restrict wrist motions in some ways. A model like this may limit how the wrist can turn to the left or right, which can be less useful compared to sabres because the basket bascially protects all sides of your hand. Many of these broadswords are quite heavy (some can be close to 1.8kg!) but quite nimble. They usually have their balance point quite close to the hilt which make quick wrist cuts very effective, and that is an important part of the fencing system. Some Scottish broadswords have leather linings inside hilts that protect against thrusts. This is a model that's supposed to predate the Jacobite rebellion. The event marks as a turning point for the form and fencing system of broadswords.
