Asset Overview

The cannon barge is a special kind of vessel, of which we have very little information. Pictures are scarce and drawings lacking. In essence the cannon barge / floating battery is a frigate size battery that can be towed with galleys to a location, anchored and used as a heavy battery. Typically these vessels were used to support ports and fortresses. The batteries taking part in the Second Battle of Svensksund were towed to the line and then used like the frigates. The batteries were lost during the battle, but a wreck of one has been found in Kotka port. Hull dimensions: • Length at waterline: 32.3 m • Greatest width (breadth): 9.5 m • Greatest depth: 2.3 m Ship 10, Russian cannon barge No. 1, closed sails, 16.5.2020, programs: Blender, Substance, Marvelous Designer, UE4.
