Asset Overview
3D model of the Ferdinand Raimund Monument in the 7th district of Vienna. Ferdinand Raimund (1790-1836) was an Austrian actor and playwright. Together with Johann Nestroy, he was the main representative of the old Viennese folk theater. The monument shows Raimund sitting in the corner of a bench, his right arm stretched over the backrest, in his left hand he holds a theater booklet. His gaze wanders into the distance, as if he is being inspired by the muse with butterfly wings behind him on a rock.
The Raimund monument was designed by Franz Vogl and unveiled on June 1, 1898. It originally stood in front of the Deutsches Volkstheater and was moved to its present location in 1938. In 1947 renovations were made after war damage. Several streets and squares are named after the actor, and from 1970 Raimund's portrait was depicted on the 50 Schilling banknote.
