Asset Overview

The Katalapi Park Environmental Research and Education Center is a private protected area, created to support scientific research related to the native forest and at the same time to teach children, youth and adults to love, know and value nature. The park has 28 hectares of native forest, located only 18.5 km from Puerto Montt, along the Carretera Austral, between the sea and the Alerce Andino National Park, in the Cordillera de Quillaipe sector. Inside and around the park, natural wooded landscapes predominate. The forest of Katalapi Park today is a representative ecosystem of the Valdivian forest ecoregion at low altitude (sea level). The predominant vegetation formation corresponds to temperate rainforest with northern Patagonian influence, so it has mostly species of myrtaceae, Nothofagus and evergreen shrubs. Today, all the species that can be expected to be found there are present (coigües, mañíos, myrtles, ulmos, melis, tineos, etc.). The animals in Conservation Status present in the park include sev
