Asset Overview

This is a perfusion fixed human heart that was donated for research. The donor was a 45 year old male with a history of smoking, hypertension, and liver cirrhosis. This heart has the atria dissected away, revealing the two atrial-ventricular valves, the Mitral (Left side of the heart) and the Tricuspid (Right side of the heart). These valves control the internal flow of blood within the heart. We partner with [LifeSource](https://www.life-source.org/) to receive donated organs deemed not viable for transplant.
