The Herluf trolle class of coastal defence ships were built for the Royal Danish navy, with the first being launched in January 1899. Design wise they were somewhat typical of Danish costal defence vessels of the time and only carried 2 - 240mm guns in single mounts, followed by a mixed battery of 150mm casemate guns and 10 - 57mm tertiary guns. They also mounted a sngle frontal 450mm torpedo tube because of coarse they did.
