The HDMS Odin was a center battery ironclad built for the Royal Danish navy, in the 1870's. She was laid down in April 1871,launched in December 1872 and nearly 3 years later in September 1874 she was commissioned into the Danish navy. The main purpose of the Odin was to serve as a coastal defence vessel and as such patrolled the danish coast, however given the lack of freeboard, it's doubtful it ever reached any of Denmarks oversea territories such as Iceland or Greenland. During her career she never saw any major action as with most danish vessels of this era, and as such in 1912 was sold for scrap, as she was heavily outdated.
