Asset Overview
The independence-class of Aircraft carriers was a class built by the US Navy in WW2 based on the hulls of the Cleveland class. 9 units were built in total, laid down and completed in the early 1940s. They were built to enlarge the US carrier fleet whilst the larger Essex-class was still in construction, with older carrier slowly getting sunk by the enemy. Even though they were small units, they proved effective with a high speed, capable Air wing and good range, together with the quick building and repair times in dock. Overall they were one of the reasons Japan couldn't hold the Pacific with their units. All units except Princeton survived the war and were decommissioned one by one. Independence got sunk in Operation Crossroads, 3 units were transferred to France and Spain where they served until the 60s and 90s.
This model was made with the official naval recognition manual of the US Navy from WW2 and is intended to be printed in 1/4000 scale with resin printers, hence the lack of detail.
