RSS Glow Worm

RSS Glow worm was Svensbergs first Ironclad coastal defence ship, being laid down in 4456 and launched a year later. She was designed and built to test out the new idea of putting turrets on ships, before building any real capital ship with them. This in turn led to quite a few naval doctrine experiments and changes, as with turrets you didn't need to be broadside on and could even come in at an angle if you wanted, and still get a broadside-like fire. However it would'nt be for another 6 years before any real turret capital ship was built, as budget constraints and the old guard faction inside the admiralty, didn't want to try out too many experimental things too quickly. The ship its self would last 18 years before an accidental fire in the magazine room whilst she was out in sea duty, blew her in half, taking all 276 sailors with her.
