RSS Hellgoland

Hellgolands were Svensbergs first turreted Capital ships. After the success of Glow worms turrets and nearly a decade of refinements and planning, the admiralty came to the conclusion that a turret ironclad should be next in line to be built. The turrets should be mounted at the front+rear instead of centrally. Thus giving a better arc of fire, and also increasing space in the centre for a secondary battery. A new 330mm gun had been developed for this series of ships to provide maximum firepower and to keep them competitive in the future. In total 4 Hellgoland class battleships were built between 4462-4466 to supliment the ever growing fleet of ironclads and the rapidly decreasing fleets of wooden ships. War would come in 4469 over colonial holdings in the "new world", with the hellgolands taking part in fleet actions against enemy fleets and merchants. The war would end in a ceasfire 6 years later resulting in a white peace, before a colonial war would erupt in 4477 over the fertile lands in the new world.
