HDMS Gorm was an Ironclad monitor built for the Danish navy in the late 1860's. First laid down in November 1867 in Copenhagen naval dockyard, and launched 2 and a half years later by May 1870, and completed a year later in June 1871. The Gorm was named after Denmarks first recognised king, Gorm the old, who had ruled over Denmark for over 20 years. As with most Danish ships of this era, Gorm never saw combat and so mostly patrolled the Danish coast until 1912 when it was sold for scrap.
