This is a perfusion fixed human heart that was donated for research. The donor was a 23 year old female with a history of childhood asthma. This heart was filled with foam prior to 3D Scanning to show the filled anatomical position, and some 3D Scanning spray was applied to facilitate the imaging. The fossa ovalis is visible through the opening in the Right Atrium from the inferior vena cava. This structure allows for blood to pass between the right and left atria whilie a baby is *in utero*, but usually closes when a baby is born.
We partner with [LifeSource](https://www.life-source.org/) to receive donated organs deemed not viable for transplant.
